THEME: BROKEN IN GOD’S HAND
TEXT: ACTS 9:1-6
When ever we hear of something being broken, it speaks to it not being whole, not remaining intact, and not being together. The next thing we consider, can we fix it, can we put it back together? In this race of life, in this day and age of information technology, the advances made in learning and the ability of scientist to make things from practically nothing is very refreshing. But a life that is broken as a result of walking away from the Principles of God is a frightening proposition to deal with. No one will be able to fix the problem but God. Today if you are broken as a result of disobedience, you doing your own thing, there is good news for you. God have you here today in order for you to be delivered.
IT IS BETTER TO BE BROKEN IN GOD’S HAND THAN IN ANY OTHER. FOR HE HAS THE CAPACITY TO PUT US BACK TOGETHER, TO MAKE US A NEW, TO MAKE A BETTER ME.
As we have seen in the passage, Saul had the authority from the High Priest to imprison the followers of Jesus.
· His authority was not sanctioned by God
· Some of us will suffer persecution for the Gospel, but we should not become intimated by the threats of the devil. For the battle is not yours but the Lords. 2 Chronicles. 20:15.”… when the enemy comes in like a flood, the Spirit of God will lift up a standard against it” Isaiah 59:19
· The light of God has the ability to dispel our dark and secret deeds. … behold your sins will find you out. Numbers 23:20
· He fell to the ground.
· Evil cannot stand to the awesome power of God, or the name of Jesus. The soldiers with Judas fell backwards when Jesus said His name. John. 18:4-6
Every opposition to the word of God is an attack on God Him self. Those who oppose Christ, his Servants or His works will have to deal with Him sooner rather than later.
· Miriam and Aaron spoke evil of Moses. What they did not know, they were speaking against God himself. If God choose to use a servant and we go against him, we aught to be careful for we might be just going against God. And the cloud departed from off the tabernacle and behold Miriam became leprous. numbers 12:10
Saul, Saul. This denotes urgency.
· The message of God is and has to be urgent.
Who art thou Lord.
· Saul had never met the Lord before, neither did he knew who it was.
· It was an appropriate question for a man who was prepared to destroy the works of the Lord.
It’s hard for thee to kick against the pricks.
· Anyone opposing the works of God is fighting a loosing battle.
· You will always get hurt fighting against God.
· Korah, Dathan and Abiram rebel against Moses. Numbers 16:
Trembling and astonished he asks the Lord what you will have me to do.
· God finally got his attention.
· Change of direction.
· Change of will.
· When we meet with Jesus we will never be the same again.
God established His Vertical relationship with Saul.
· The Christian walk is two dimensional. Vertical – with God and Horizontal – with man.
In order for Christians to be successful in their daily walk: · they must have their Vertical relationship in order.
· God called Saul on the Damascus read to establish his vertical relationship. No man come unto the father except the spirit draws him. John. 6:44
· To set in place his horizontal relationship.
· You cannot work for God in all honesty if your Vertical relationship is not in place.
- This relationship can only be established by faith in Jesus only, not good works.
I urge you today, if you have not done so as yet to start your relationship with Him now.
